Good word! Convicting to my wavering spirit. One thing lacking from preaching today is the joy of self denial that pervades the writings of Edwards and Lewis and other men that had a grip on the understanding of how God releases in us fulfilled contentment when self control and denial dominates our thoughts. There is unfortunately a negative connotation concerning these characteristics that make us rationalize avoiding seeking after them with zeal and perseverance. We may like the results of self denial but we see the actual characteristic as somehow a painful thing to desire.

Thank you for your insight and daily I pray God works this fruit of the spirit through me for His glory and for my enjoyment in Him.
