The first and principal end of the Lord Christ’s taking on a human nature, was not to reign in that nature, but to suffer and die in it.

I was not very happy with this sermon. I think a sermon should have a plea in it a calling to the souls of men. I hope God blesses you as you listen anyway, but as for myself I think of this sermon as a failure to preach as I ought. -Mike

Conversion is not the smooth, easy-going process some men seem to think … It is wounding work, of course, this breaking of the hearts, but without wounding there is no saving. … Where there is grafting there is a cutting, the scion must be let in with a wound; to stick it on to the outside or to tie it on with a string would be of no use.
